What is Pearl?
Pearl is an advanced AI dental reception assistant. Patients interact with Pearl just like a human receptionist — by phone. Pearl answers calls after hours (or 24/7), schedules appointments directly in your PMS, sends texts, responds to general business inquiries, and updates your staff after every interaction via email or text.
How does Pearl handle HIPAA and SOC 2?
Pearl operates an audit-ready security program mapped to HIPAA safeguards and SOC 2 controls. We sign BAAs where applicable and the platform is designed to support HIPAA-regulated workflows. Patient data is encrypted end-to-end, in transit and at rest, and where possible we route calls and data through Tier 1 enterprise-grade servers in your country. Security overview, policies, risk assessment summary, architecture overview, BAA, and subprocessors list are available under NDA.
What tasks can Pearl handle?
Pearl handles 24/7 or after-hours call answering, appointment scheduling and rescheduling directly in your PMS, sending and receiving texts, answering general questions (hours, location, insurance, emergencies), forwarding calls to your receptionist or voicemail, and sending staff updates after every patient interaction. Pearl handles multiple calls simultaneously with no wait times.
Which PMS systems does Pearl support?
Pearl integrates with cloud versions of Athena, Cloud9, Curve Hero, Dentrix Ascend, eClinicalWorks (v11.53+), Modernizing Medicine (ModMed), NextGen Office, and NexHealth Synchronizer. We’re constantly adding new integrations.
Will patients know they’re talking to AI?
Pearl uses advanced AI voice technology to sound clear, fluent, and human-like. Many callers won’t notice a difference. Unlike call centers or offshore receptionists, Pearl provides natural conversations with no accents or language barriers.
Can Pearl transfer calls to my staff?
Yes. Pearl can forward calls to your receptionist or transfer to voicemail whenever you choose — all included at no extra cost.
Can Pearl answer calls to my existing phone number?
Yes. Pearl integrates seamlessly with your current phone setup, including VOIP systems like Mango Voice, Weave, and others. No need to change your clinic’s phone number.
What languages does Pearl support?
Pearl supports English, Spanish, Mandarin, French, German, Japanese, and Korean — with more languages on the way.
How customizable is Pearl?
Pearl is custom tailored to your practice’s hours, appointment types, emergency protocols, and workflows. You can configure custom routing rules, follow-up emails or texts to staff with detailed interaction logs, and more.
How does onboarding work?
Pearl begins with a free 30-day trial. During this period, we work with your staff to set up custom workflows, scheduling rules, and integrations. Pearl integrates with existing VOIP systems like Mango Voice, Weave, and others.
How does Pearl benefit my clinic economically?
No missed calls means new patient opportunities are captured — a single recovered new patient per month (worth $500–$1,000+) can cover Pearl’s cost. Pearl reduces no-shows by confirming and rescheduling in real time, lowers staffing overhead compared to hiring another FTE ($35k–$50k/year), and stops patients from leaving for another clinic due to missed calls.
What if I want to cancel?
There are no long-term contracts. You can cancel anytime. We believe Pearl should earn your business every month, not lock you in.
